In its current state, the City Park Lake bears little resemblance to the former body of water fed by the Rákos stream and closely connected to the groundwater system. It now receives the runoff from the Széchenyi Bath and transfers it to the sewer system. The reconstruction plan by Garten Studio, which is an important element of the City Park Rehabilitation Project, would not only restore the lake to its former form, which was significantly transformed during the construction of the Kisföldalatti, but also point to a more modern direction in terms of water management. In addition to its recreational purpose, the implementation of the idea would also be a significant step in keeping the water extracted within the park in place.
