International symposium and panel discussion on 'DESIGNING GREEN & RESILIENT CITIES - Key Role of Landscape Architecture within the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change' will take place on Thursday, 10 April 2024.

NTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM, PANEL DISCUSSION organised by OGLA Austria, City of Vienna and IFLA Europe

Climate change is the major challenge of our time. Beside mitigation efforts to slow global warming, adaptation measures must be implemented. The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change focuses on solutions for European cities and regions to adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change and become climate-resilient by 2050. Given the many positive effects of plants, one key solution is to increase the use of green infrastructure and nature-based solutions in urban areas. Within this transformation, landscape architecture plays a crucial role. However, the tasks are complex, and planning strategies must address a variety of needs.

The symposium explores challenges faced by local authorities and municipalities, presents scientific findings into planning strategies, and showcases best practices from major cities such as Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin, and Vienna.

Venue: ALTE POSTBUSGARAGE NORDWESTBAHNSTRASSE 16, 1200 VIENNA
